Daniel Galmiche looks back at 2011

Daniel has an exciting year ahead but looks back on a busy 2011...

Well 2011 was another very busy year both at the Vineyard and away touring England with Panasonic… |
Thanks to my agent Rosemary Melbourne - we certainly did a lot, including some Saturday Kitchen with James Martin and a new show - Drop Down Menu. I had a French TV crew shadow me for two days too - for TeleMatin in France. Also a hectic BBC Good Food Show, the Taste Shows, Grand Designs Shows, Ideal Homes and many, many other events over the year. I’m looking forward to a good 2012 too.
But first I am having an operation to my ankle - key hole surgery, to a painful injury I sustained four years ago playing football with my son, Antoine. Finally they’ve found out what’s wrong and can now get on with it…
2011 was very interesting. My first book came out in September (French Brasserie Cookbook) and went into the best seller list. This was eighteen months of really hard labour with invaluable help from my wife Claire - I was working full time too. Don’t let anyone tell you that writing a book is easy! The wonderful people at Panasonic made a version of that same book and adapted nearly half of the recipes for their new microwave /combi oven. I’m very pleased to say that it’s been really well received.

And of course, most importantly - I got married! To Claire in July after seven years together and I am VERY proud!
So here’s to a great 2012.
Cheers
Daniel
