Romy’s been running in New York  and is looking forward to an exciting year!

The New York marathon was amazing!  It was an experience I’ll never forget - pounding thorough the Big Apple with my friend Adele and so many other runners. I loved every moment of it!  The crowd was so full of encouragement which helped me run all the way. When I reached the 26.2 miles I just couldn’t stop the tears, even more so when my husband and daughters called me.  They’d been tracking me on the net with my race number - all the aches and pains vanished!  Like a lot of women, I put on weight when I had my children and competing in the New York Marathon marks a personal fitness triumph for me as well as my weight decrease and my fitness level increase since I began running.

romy new york 1For me, running provides the perfect counterbalance to the love of good food - especially cake!  I’ve certainly bitten the big apple in a Big Way...  I’ll be back in New York as an invited guest chef at the Varli Festival in April and am really looking forward to it.

Towards the end of November I cooked for 85 ladies at Old Down Country Park.  This was very challenging as they weren’t convinced that Indian food could be low fat and healthy.  I used recipes from the book I’m writing (Curry without Calories) and they were all intrigued.  Everyone tasted a chicken korma and ….loved it!

My recent demonstrations at Bordeaux Quays cookery school went well, including a corporate event and I’m going to Manna Cookery School in Devon in March, click here if you want to see if there are any places left Mana from Devon.  I’ll be at the Thornbury Food Fair on 24th March and some demonstrations in Manchester in May.

Most exciting of all is that I’ll open my restaurant in May!  We are making the final plans and have so much to do but that’s for another blog!

Happy cooking!
Romy
