Gorgeous Claire Bassano is a highly skilled cookery demonstrator and presenter who has appeared on many television shows both as a guest and as a chef.
Claire’s father is from Italy and her mother from Yorkshire and she spent idyllic childhood summers in southern Italy where her passion with cooking began. Claire trained as a chef and also studied at Leeds University gaining a BA in Food & Nutrition and she believes that these qualifications have stood her in great stead in meeting the requirements of celebrity chefs who appreciate her practical skills in this area. Her unique all round talent and training has enabled her to develop her career in all aspects of food and hospitality.
She has worked with many top chefs including Ainsley Harriott, Anthony Worrall Thompson, James Martin, Jamie Oliver, Simon Rimmer, Andrew Nutter, Lesley Waters and Tony Tobin and has worked in product development for high street supermarkets. Claire also works as a food stylist for books, publications and commercials and as a home economist for television and publishing.
Claire is currently working on the BBC series Something For the Weekend with Chef Simon Rimmer and most recently with James Martin Sweet Baby James BBC1, Soap Star Super Chef ITV1, Saturday Kitchen BBC1. She also appeared on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and in Asda commercials. Claire demonstrates to the public at food festivals and cookery events around the country and in Spring 2007 worked with the Co-op promoting their British Food campaign.
With her home and family rooted in Yorkshire Claire enjoys cooking with local produce and likes to produce regional British food at every opportunity. Claire has assisted and consulted on the organisation of many British food based events including: The Yorkshire Show, York Food Festival, Cooking in Schools (Government Initiative). She has appeared on shows as both a guest and a chef including: Back Stage (BBC), Club Vegetarian (Granada), Interactive Health Show (YTV), It shouldn’t Happen To A TV Cook (LWT), National Dish (Channel 4) and Great Food Live! (UK Food). In her role as home economist she has worked on numerous popular television programmes such as Good Living (BBC), Flavours From Abroad/ Whose Recipe? /South Of The Border (Action Time for CFN), Tessa Bramley’s Country Kitchen/ Winter Nosh/ Aldo’s Italian Job (Transmedia for CFN). This Morning / Jubilee Street Party, Coronation Street (Granada for ITV). You may also have seen her on BBC UK Food`s Great Food Live!
Claire lives with her husband Mark and their two children, in her spare time she loves to eat out and is an avid moviegoer. She has a flower shop too ` A Little Bit of Eden` run by her dedicated team.
