Preston born Nigel Smith has worked in award-winning restaurants across the UK and is now Chef Patron at The Villa, Wrea Green near Preston.
His career has included stints working with Albert Roux, Paul Heathcote and Anton Edelmann at the Savoy, as well as hosting his own TV series.
Nigel is brand Ambassador /Consultant Chef for leading home shopping company Kleeneze Ltd and promotes its innovative range of kitchen-wares, with on-line videos/dvd and recipe book showing customers how to save time and get better results in the kitchen.

Faced with the decision at an early age to play badminton at International Level or to become a chef, his followers are delighted that he chose the latter and his exciting contemporary and classic menus using fresh, seasonal produce can be enjoyed at his Lancashire restaurant. Nigel believes that the first requirement of any successful restaurant is consistency and he has built a team around him that reflects his high standards. Celebrities, media personalities (and some very well-known footballers!) dine at The Villa and he also has a thriving outside catering business with prestigious clients that range from private jets to golf clubs. His beautiful cookery school hosts individually tailored classes with hands on cooking and chef’s demonstrations.
Achievements include: Winner Hi-Life Diners Club Best Restaurant Award Winner, Taste of Britain award, Good Food Guide 6/10, Life Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year (twice) & Chef of the Year. Television credits include a series ‘Nigel Smith Challenges’ and appearances on Granada TV and UKTV Food.
Consultancies: Nigel works within the hospitality sector bringing a structured and individual approach to ensure success. From concept to conclusion he is passionate about achieving goals. He is currently working with the NHS on particularized projects.
Nigel is married to Emma and they have two beautiful daughters Eloise and Bryony.
