Anne Stirk
Anne Stirk is one of the country’s most prominent food stylists and home economists; she has been a respected figure in the world of television food for many years working alongside the top names in the business. Her charming personality ensures that she is constantly in demand as a consultant, broadcaster, presenter and guest chef.
Anne’s real passion is in a presenting role, many will recall her on Open House with Gloria Hunniford where for five years she was selected by Channel 5 to be a cookery presenter. Her infectious enthusiasm for good health for all ages was captured more recently when she co-presented an eight-part series called ‘You Are What You Eat’ for YTV, a health and food related programme. Anne is a passionate cook who cares about the food we all eat and she has a fresh and contemporary approach “I want to show people that cooking can be lots of fun and recreated to your own individual style”.
A student at Leeds Polytechnic and York College of Further & Higher Education Anne gained her teaching qualifications and later taught Cordon Bleu Cookery Courses and Vocational City & Guilds courses in cookery, food & nutrition at various schools and colleges. Anne is a regular radio contributor for BBC Radio York and a popular broadcaster in all cookery genres including live and pre-recorded and is currently co-presenting and producing two mid morning shows on BBC Radio York to be broadcast on Good Friday and Easter Monday. She is actively involved in the PR and organisation of the annual York Festival of Food & Drink. A well-liked event speaker her talks include topics such as ‘Behind the Studio/Kitchen Door’ and she has been a product demonstrator at many events such as the BBC Good Food Show working with various prestigious companies such as Marks & Spencer, Tefal, and Sainsbury’s. William Jackson, Loyd Grossman Sauces, Billingtons Sugar, Sopexa Food & Wine of France.
Anne is married and lives in Yorkshire with her husband Ken who is also in the food business as technical director for a pet food company. Their family are following in Mum’s media footsteps; son Ed presents a breakfast show on Heart FM and daughter Sarah is a sports presenter/broadcast journalist for BBC East Midlands. In her spare time Anne can be found rambling over the wonderful Yorkshire countryside, she also enjoys a game of golf and loves to eat out.
