Fi Bird is graduate of St Andrew`s University and a mother of six children! She is a self-taught cook and past Masterchef finalist who has always had a passion for cooking and her approach to food is based on her knowledge of tight budgets and limited time.

Fi Bird is graduate of St Andrew`s University and a mother of six children! She is a self-taught cook and past Masterchef finalist who has always had a passion for cooking and her approach to food is based on her knowledge of tight budgets and limited time.
Fi demonstrated at the Taste of Grampian Food Show in June 2009. She appears on Scottish TV in July and at the Black Isle Show on 5th & 6th August and Overgate , Dundee on August 8th.
Fi is an active campaigner and campaigns for healthier diets and for cookery teaching in Primary schools and writes articles and recipes extensively for several newspapers and magazines, including Green Parent, Scotland on Sunday and Bushcraft and Survival Skills. She is a member of the Guild of Food Writers and also develops recipes for Tern TV; she was BBC Food & Drink Radio Times Cook of the Year runner up and Sunday Times Amateur Chef runner up.
With her husband Dr Stephen Bird Fi is a founder of ‘Stirrin`Stuff’ which works in partnerships to educate children about food. ‘Stirrin`Stuff’ is committed to sustainable development and ethical best practice. Dr Bird has recently completed a course in human nutrition. Fi believes that food has to be affordable and accessible and she forages (in season) as locally as possible.
Fi works with schools and communities and demonstrates around the country, she will be demonstrating at the Edinburgh book festival this summer. She is also the cook for the BBC Scotland Beechgrove Garden. Her latest book Kid’s Kitchen will be published summer 2009.
