Nancy Lam
Vivacious, funny and a charming lady Nancy Lam cooks with love and inspiration and adores seeing people enjoy themselves.
One of 10 children, Nancy was born in Singapore to an Indonesian Mother and a Chinese Father who had a prawn cracker manufacturing business; it was her Grandmother who taught her the basics of oriental cooking which later became her passion and career. At the age of 22 Nancy ventured to London and began a career in cooking and after meeting her husband Ben they opened their famous Enak Enak Restaurant in London’s popular Lavender Hill.
Nancy’s food is notably full of wonderful and unusual flavours and as well as being exciting and healthy, it’s simple and quick to make. Her breakthrough came when Craig Brown wrote a glowing article in the Sunday Times magazine entitled `Deep fried prawns in Battersea`. More success followed and with the business continuing to grow A A Gill wrote a glowing article in the Sunday Times. Nancy cooked and entertained the English Cricket Team in her restaurant with the then chairman of ECB - Lord McLaren, the selector - David Graveney and team captain Alex Stewart and she is a keen follower of the English Cricket team being a frequent visitor to the Oval and Lords cricket ground.
Further recognition followed and Nancy stepped into the national spotlight when she was chosen to help promote the launch of Channel 5. Her television series ‘Nancy Lam’ was one of the greatest successes of Channel 5’s opening season and she now makes regular appearances on television in the UK and abroad. A much loved popular media figure she demonstrates at food festivals all over the world and is a guest lecturer at such prestigious venues as Oxford University. Interesting facts include her record for the Biggest Stir-Fry in the Guinness Book of Records and Nancy’s infectious laugh was used in the opening titles credits of Jackass - The Movie!!

Nancy and Ben live in South London and have three beautiful daughters. She enjoys gardening in her spare time and painting with watercolours and acrylics.
